Fun Fall Photos (How's That for Alliteration?)
I've been taking an online photography class taught by the amazing Maggie Holmes and I can't believe how much I've learned in just a few weeks. Especially about the powerhouse behemoth that is Adobe Photoshop CS6. I'm still far from where I'd like to be in the editing department, but I'm vastly better that I was! My most recent shoot was yesterday with my favorite subjects--my girls. And guess what? I learned that I can bribe Maya to sit still and smile for the camera. I took these photos in our yard, at a local cider mill, and at our neighborhood park.
Besides shooting photos and spending lots of time with good old CS6, I've also been working on some super secret scrappy projects. I can't wait to share them (and some news!) with you all! Thanks for stopping by lovlies!

Dudes, I Made Something Other Than a Layout!
I actually made something other than a layout! Shocking, I know. There are lots of calendars showing up on pinterest lately that use a frame and dry erase markers, and since our lives are even crazier now that Lily started Kindy, I decided to make my own version. It took less than 30 minutes. I used a frame from Joann's, cut strips of patterned paper (I used My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing lines, adhered them to the cardboard from the frame, added some Thickers and there ya go.
And, friendly friends, I've gotten lots of scrappy good news recently that I can't wait to share, so stay tuned!

The Twinery + WCS = Baker's Twine Beautiness
Yep, you read that right--Beautiness. Here they are, friends! My projects are featured both on Write.Click.Scrapbook and The Twinery Blog today!! Make sure you check them out, cause rumor has it there's gonna be a sweet giveaway!
On this layout, I used twine from The Twinery to hand stitch the title "Love", and also used it to embellish the button and journaling cards.
For this one, I used all 22 colors of twine from the Twinery and stapled them to mimic the spokes on the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island. I tucked away some hidden journaling on the blue tag.
Finally, for the card I used a super simple design with some scraps I had from a recent project. I stamped the title, added some stickers and sequins and finished with strawberry twine from The Twinery.
I had a ton of fun making these projects! Thanks for visiting!

Two Totally Tubular Twinery Sneaks!
So when one of my teammates from Write.Click.Scrapbook, the ever-awesome Monika Wright of i love it all, asked for some projects using amazing baker's twine from The Twinery I was thrilled. I was even more blown away when I began working with the twine on two layouts and a card. This stuff is awesome. For serious. And it comes in a bazillion colors. Really. A bazillion. You'll have to wait to see my projects in their entirety, but until then I have Sneaks, friends!! And I'm not kidding when I say that these were some of my favorite projects yet. The Twinery = awesome sauce.
As always, thanks for stopping by, lovlies!

One Week Down...
Well, the first week of school is over and all in all, it has been pre-tay pre-tay good (for the girls, at least!). I'm finding that work gets in the way of my photography and scrappy goodness time, but oh well. I'm still plugging along at my photography class and am also taking a class over at Studio Calico, taught by the ever-awesome Jen Jockisch. She is the master of layering, and her class has provided lots of inspiration for me to make my layouts more detailed.
I also got a happy email the other day asking for my permission to use my latest WCS layout on the Gallery Highlights feature of scrapbookupdate.com Check it out Here! Yay!

Firsts and Lasts
Um, okay. I can't believe it is September. For serious. This September day marks a few firsts...Lily's first day of Kindergarten, Maya's first day of preschool and my first day back to work after an awesome summer. My layout for this month's gallery at Write.Click.Scrapbook marks a last...the last time I saw and the last time I photographed my grandparents' house before it was demolished. My grandparents lived just a few miles from my childhood home, so my sister and I spent a lot of time there growing up. Even though my grandparents are both gone and haven't lived there for a number of years, I was still super sad to see it go. So this layout means a lot to me.
And now for some first day of school pics...
I think they are kinda cute, don't you? I may be biased!
And of course, if you know me, you know that my NYC instagram pics were just the tip of my photographic iceberg from the long weekend, so be ready to see some Big Apple layout lovlies coming soon!
